On the front page, no less, of today's Wall Street Journal (4/29) is a story about 'extreme' beers:

It Ages Well, Is Kept in Cellars,
Goes With a Good Cigar -- Beer?

'Extreme Beer' at Extreme Prices
Finds Market Among Connoisseurs

There's also a story on the D section in which reporters and some recruited experts taste these beers:

- Dogfish Head World Wide Stout
- North Coast Old Rasputin
- Heavyweight Two Druid's Gruit Ale 2001
- Fish Tale Ales Old Woody 2001

My favorite part of the story: "If you want to sample extreme beer, you have to work at it. many are produced by small brewers and distributed only regionally. Example: You have a very good chance of finding Dogfish ales on the East Coast, but not in Utah."

There's another reason you won't find them in Utah. You could add up the abv of 7 Utah beers (3.2) and still not have World Wide Stout.

It will be nice if this causes readers to see what different sort of beers are available in their own region.

Prosit,
Stan
