So what is everyone going to brew? Anybody have any big plans?

I am brewing an american pale ale all grain because I have the ingredients on hand. Our club is brewing at the local homebrew store.

I am bottling a strong amber and kegging an imperial stout this week. I am going to brew some light ale and Anchor Steam style brews in the next couple weeks.

i have an extract pale conditioning now, a partial mash stout in the secondary, a partial mash IPA in primary, and grains for my first whole grain (a honey wheat) waiting for some carboys to clear the deck :)

the stout and IPA will probably be ready for bottling at the same time., so about a week before that i'll start the wheat.

right now i'm down to one can of guinness draught...nothing else. i'm gonna put one of the tap-a-drafts of my extract pale in the fridge and start it up tonight.

the local homebrew store is hosting several clubs on Saturday. it appears that everyone will be making the California Common. i hope to get an education on the many finer points as this will be my second batch of homebrew.

i am very curious to see the all grainers brew in a parking lot. that should be an interesting event.

now i'm wishing i had delayed my IPA for one week :( maybe i'll make that wheat beer a week or two early and let it sit in the primary until one of my secondaries is done.

I am very curios to see how I am going to accomplish my all grain in a parking lot. Applying heat won't be a problem. Setting up my Liquor tank on top of my truck will be fun?

I'll be working 12 hours on the 3rd, but I'll be kicking off a nut-brown on the 6th.

My first attempt at a nut brown (back in Feburary) didn't turn out so well.... or so I thought! I cracked one of the few remaining bottles open yesterday and was surprised to see my roasted flavor finally came through! (After 2 months).

I'm down to only 3 bottles of the stuff so I'm going to get another cranking on Tuesday.

I was supposed to have a grill-out and "homebrew" party at my house next month and was going to serve my honey-brown, nut brown, and wheat beers to show off to my co-workers...

Unfortunately I've consumed all but a few of each... OOPS!

I need to start brewing more often than once ever 4-6 weeks.

the local Big Brew was a great event. i think 10 people brewed today and it was really good to see how others brewed. i really liked seeing the all grainers do their thing. i learned a good deal of info and hopefully this batch will come out much better than the last.

a few more batches should have me hooked enough to invest in a propane burner and 40 quart brew kettle with ball valve. those and a wort chiller.

anyone have a few hundred i can 'borrow'

:)

Wow. I'm starting to think I drink too much. 4-6 weeks? That's like 1.1-1.7 beers per day, more or less. I brew every other weekend, sometimes 3 weekends in a month. I ran out once after skipping a couple of weekends. It wasn't pretty. Then I had to brew 5 weekends in a row to catch up! But it is rare these days that I buy any commercial beer at all.

Oh, back on topic, I brewed a Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale clone from Austin Homebrew on Friday. Their AHS American IPA I recipe. The last time I brewed that one, it went really fast. I likes it!

damn. i have been drinking 2 beers a night now for a few weeks to sample a variety of styles and variations within those styles. plus i needed more bottles ;)

my plan is to cut back on commerical brews and build up a cache of 4 cases of homebrew. i should have a decent cache built up next month. this will allow me to brew once a month and still have beer to drink.

if after 6 months i stick with the hobby, i'm going to move away from bottles and into cornies. to do that i will need a refrigerator, but that is easy to find for cheap in teh Pennysaver.

i am on the quest for the perfect beer. hopefully i will have found it in the next few years.

We started small, one fermenter and it quickly became apparent that that would not suffice....so I bought my second, third, and fourth, plus 4 secondary carboys....
I now have 5 types of beer bottled at various stages of carbonation and aging, plus 6 more batches in process, one kit on the shelf and one arriving in the mail today.

I will win this battle through sheer volume, plus I will have a variety to choose from in the basement which I think will be really cool.

I currently have an Amber ale, California Common, Irish stout, Red Ale, Nut Brown ale with oktoberfest yeast, Porter, Belgian Dubbel, Sam Adams Ale CLone, Hefeweizen, and my Black & Tan on hand....

um, so you like beer, huh?

i have been pricing out the materials to go to all grain. it's going to run just under $200 to get a 10 gallon SS Polar Ware brewpot with ball valve and piping for a manifold for the cooler.

this is a fun hobby, but now is the time for science. enough of this kicking back and having a homebrew crap ;)

sidney, get me my slide rule

Well, my wife likes it too, so it's not an even comparison...we probably go through 4 to 6 a night on average, and alot more on the weekends...

I'm still eyeballing the parts to make a 10 gallon stainless conical fermenter.....I just need to figure out how to hide it from the in-laws....
