To be honest this is my second. I did a whole topic but somehow messed up and have to start over. Anyway. I have been reading for i duno how many days on home-made fridge/freezers. I'm about to pick up a SANYO 4.3 mini fridge. Which im so excited about. A post talked about these being big enough for a pony keg. I cant wait.
MY PROBLEM- Earlier i saw a topic about a kit thats someone put together themselves not bought. I cant find it now and i'm bummed because i was going to follow their lil home-made kit then get some help on the install and i thought i was set. but now i'm back to square one. . Please help out with this lil project. I know to search but i cant find much on spefic of mini-fridge and install thru front door wit co2 also being run from the outside in.
Hopefully someday i can help others out. "The student has become the teacher" As i am in college

Pat/Frank the Tank, welcome.
There are a plethora of places online that will sell you the specific kit you're looking for. Here are a few examples, I bet some of these same retailers have this same stuff on ebay...
http://www.wholesaledraft.com/Merchant/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=1212&Product_Code=DD10L&Category_Code=1110 then pick up a co2 tank locally. (got your co2 tank locally, don't pay for shipping. best way to do it, IMHO...)
http://www.kegworks.com/shoppingcart/customer/product.php?productid=16429&cat=&page=
http://www.morebeer.com/detail.php3?pid=D1000
there's a ton more, but this should get you started...

the first website looks awesome and the website seems great but another question when looking at that equipment. Wouldn't it be a LOT cheaper to buy all those pieces sperate, like the nuts and bolts at hardware, then tubing somewhere such as online, then the connection. IT feels like that equipment isn't 90 dollars worth and i'm really trying to save cash. Also, will the SANYO 4.3 mini-frdge work,
Dimensions (WxHxD): 18 5/8'' x 33 3/4'' x 22 5/8''.

i serious cant sleep. This idea of cold beer on TAP just blows my mine away, but problem, i did the size measurement and i dont think it will work, i only have about 17 inches inside width and thats the size of a keg width so the spacing wont work, WILL IT?
Anyway any other ideas, im pressed for cash/space.:)

Search this site high and long and you'll find people who have a PANTLOAD of ways to do stuff like this. I know one of the members used to make refrigerators for a living and designed his own from scratch, but if you ask me it's more work than I'm willing to do (I also live in an apt. right now and can't build stuff like that into my back room!). You might brainstorm a bit AFTER you see all the pics you can; one of my favorite sayings is "If you have a difficult job to do, give it to a lazy man - he'll find an easier way to do it."
Best of luck and welcome aboard!

a 1/4 barrel (pony, or 8gal) is 16" in diameter, so it will fit into the width. I'd double check the depth though, there may be an issue there. you'll need to keep the co2 tank outside the fridge, but life goes on...
You also mentioned trying to beat the $100 kit price. I bet you can, with enough careful shopping. However, if you try to buy all that new, the shipping charges from each individual place that has components cheaper will probably cost you as much as you save. If you ebay it and get used stuff, you can probably do better. so there's the tradeoff...

A corny is a five gallon keg. The kind that Pepsi and Coke use for syrup. And the most common for homebrewers who keg.

While it does not look like much hardware for the price, the two pieces that are driving the price up are the shank/tap and the coupling. The rest is just tubing and gaskets. Do you have a homebrew store near you? Where do you go to college? Maybe we could help you locate a store.

"Corny" is short for Cornelius Keg - they pressurize, have screw-off tops, and are taller and cylindrical. Much better for brewers because we can clean them out, as well as several other reasons I'm sure others here on the board can lay claim to.
No flamers here - we send people who do that stuff packing just as soon as we can. We're all FRIENDS here, and the more the merrier. This is a NICE place; we LIKE each other! :) (It's a novel concept, we know, but....)
Feel free to ask whatever question you have. I promise we'll help!

right on...i can ask whatever i want..I LOVE IT.. does anyone know that one question about the diameter of a pony keg? If so that would be great. I'm probably going to buy that kit thru the door wit co2 on the outside if there is no room. (On that where do you think CO2 is cheapest to buy and refill....?) I'm going to buy a used Sanyo 4.3 fridge for only 50 bucks. i missed all the good deals when people were moving out of school.
I'm go to UCLA. Its located in westwood, next to Bel-Air, Beverly Hills. Rough area I know.;)

well, I've found three different sites with three different "standard" sizes. One said 16.06", one said 16.5", one said 17". I think you'll just have to drive down to your favorite beer store with a tape measure...
heck, www.kegworld.com even lists two different sizes as "standard"...

You might have to order one by post. But as far as filling it goes: everyone has a fire station near them.

I went to a buddy's house to throw around some numbers wit the kegs he has bought from the local liquor store. The kegs measure
Miller High Life ½ Keg
Width 15 ¾ by Height 2 ft
Budweiser Pony Keg ¼
Width 15 ¾ by Height 14 inches
It's crazy. This things can really vary on size. I'm checking now to see if I could fit a full keg in this lil fridge of mine. I'm not sure where the co2 is going cuz i dont want it to get knocked around. On that note, I'm lost. FIRE STATION?! i havn't read anything on that one. But hey, im here to learn so give me anything you got:D ..
Thanks 2 all for the advice.. I really hope this works. Btw i have a co2 tank from my paintball days.. its 20 oz.. im thinking that might be perfect for the mini-fridge.. but i wonder if the connections would fit..? sorry i like to think out loud...

Your going to spend all that time and money into getting this going and then you are going to put that crap in there? What a waste of keg space. :(

low blow... i was at my friend's house and i was just looking at what was in the keg. I never said anything about putting that in my fridge..I try to follow the great beer quote.
"Life is to short to drink cheap beer."
Even though i'm a college student and am yet to fully develop my taste buds, don't count me out yet. Homebrewing is in the future, but for now i'm gettin this mini-kegerator setup. C'mon now.;)
