First, I would have put NY in the Northeast not the Mid Atlantic but what do I know.

My wife is out of town so I am going to the Bull and Bear Pub here in Syr, for the first time. It has been open awhile but family time and hockey among others have delayed my certification of said business.

The other nice thing is my new neighbor who I am starting down the road to better beer, without him knowing it yet, is going with me. He has enjoyed my brews and some micro product I have given him. He even honored me by saying he liked my pale ale over a SN pale ale.

The Bull and Bear is supposed to have a good beer selection. I will let you gents know what I think. That way if you are ever in Syr. you can make a decision as to check it out or not.

Well as I said, my thoughts an the Bull and Bear.

I was a little disappointed. I thought the beer slectionb would have been better and the atmosphere different. It was said to be an English style pub with a wide variety of beers. Now they did have 2o taps a a good sized bottle beer offering. I was expecting more based on what I had read and been told. The taps, can't remember them all, offered a single product from Middle Ages here in Syr. The also had Arrogant Bastard, two from Harpoon, one from the Lake Placid Brewery, a marco(Labbats I think), a cider, and SN Pale Ale being the ones I remember. They serve mix drinks as well.

The bar was not bad but not what I would picture as an English style pub. There was background music, a pool table, dart board(electronic), and nicely light. The two female barkeeps could talk weel about the beer they had. They were not as informed as the members of this board but I thought well enough for what they are doing.

It would not be a must see place like Clark's or The Blue Tusk but better than alot of other taverns around the Syr area. Since it is walking distance from the two must see places you could take it in easily.
