Has anyone here tried the fermentap that allows you to turn the carboy into a conical fermentor?

I am considering buying one and I am wondering if anyone else has one?

My main concern with it (and my lack of a CO2 system for transferring using 2 fermentaps) is not separating the resins etc from the blow off phase (krausen) of primary by moving the beer to secondary.

I am also concerned with possible plug-ups during the krausening of the beer.

It seems like a great tool, and since I am looking at starting to harvest yeast, it seems like a good thing to get for getting at the yeast.

I am currently using a 23L (6.5 gal?) carboy for primary, and have never had any problems…so is it worth it????

Any thoughts?

I haven't used one, myself. I have known someone who has. They would not recommend it.
Reasons being:
A carboy doesn't have enough of an angle on it to dispense of the sediment that settles to the bottome after primary ferment. A lot of wasted beer in the transfer, also. That was enough to turn me away. I am going to hold out until I can afford a conical fermenter.

looks like a good idea that won't work.

like SFB said, the Carboys don't have much angle to them to collect the trub

however, i would like to see a glass conical... that would be ideal. much cheaper than steel.
