I'm off to Irvine for a 4 day conference in mid-May and wondering of good beer spots within 1/2 or drive or so for festivitities at night.

I've researched and looks like Yard Room ? may be OK?

Any suggestions ?

Thanks
Craig

off yale and culver (i think) the back street brewery in a shopping center (ralphs maybe albertsons) they have a hef there i like ,my bestfriends parents live in irvine so when we visit them i always stop and get a pitcher of the hef , they got a pacific ale thats not too bad and a jagged little pilsner i like, also at the irvine spectrum there's the rockbottom brewery, i don't remember if their brew was any good or not , i don't remember being impressed either ,i was drinking cocktails as well, as a matter of fact i don't even remember how i got home that night? if you can take a little 20-30 min ride(in brea) north on the 5 to the 57 north and west on the imperial highway (90) about 7 or 8 miles there's a place called taps fish house and brewery (101 e imperial highway), foods great and the brew is outstanding! i.p.a. was great and they had the best oatmeal stout i've ever tasted. real nice place people are very friendly, when i first walked in i thought it was going to cost me an arm and a leg , pretty classy place , but it wasn't that expensive at all. you could still park valet if you like though. they use the purest water and ingedients, water comparable to sparkletts and thier ingredient(some) are imported from europe. i highly recommend this place if you can make it , there's b.j.'s pizza and brewery too but just a few miles down is taps, your much, much better off there.

cheers

i was just told about a place in orange (haven't been there yet) called hollingshead , that has a very good selection of imported beers on tap , i was told the owner is a real beer afficianado and that you wont find a bud , miller or coors there. sounds like the place for me !! can't wait to check it out.

The Yard House in Long Beach may be the place you are looking for. Incredible selection of beers and excellent food. It's close to the convention center. I highly recommend it.
