From recommendations here, I bought some of this and am glad I did!

The Black Butte poured an opaque, dark black. It had a light brown head that went to a smoky film and collar that left some lacing.

Its aroma was coffee, chocolate, figs and some sweet malt.

The flavor was coffee, figs, chocolate and some sweetness with a slight bitter coffee-like finish. It was medium bodied and had a sticky mouthfeel.

Overall, I thought this was an excellent porter. It kind of reminded me of Great Divide's Hibernation Ale.

I like the Deschutes Porter too. Except after a few 6-packs and a few weeks later I just didn't like it as much. Sudden change in taste I guess. Peace, HN-

Just tried this today and thought it was a very tasty and easy drinking porter!

Yeah, isn't it funny how this happens?!? I'll go through stages where I'll like a beer then I won't, then I'll like it again. I like having a wide selection, because my taste can be fickle. Naturally, in my opinion, the greatest beers are the ones that ALWAYS taste great to me!

Regarding the Deschutes: I like this Porter a lot. Nice subtle charred taste that I like in a porter.
