Greetings Chaps,
A few years back I enjoyed a large bottle of Coffee Stout. When I say large I mean the pint plus size bottle. I believe it was brewed by Red Hook or Sierra Nevada brewery maybe? I thought it was a West or North West USA brewery. I believe it was a brown bottle with a black/green label and maybe had Starbucks or a Starbucks logo on it?
Is it still around? I haven't seen it in a while. But to be honest with you, I haven't been looking for it until recently.
Cheers to all!
Oh, does anyone know of a good beer store in Minneapolis/St. Paul MN besides Liquor Depot or Surdyk's?

Red Hook was the first, and I've seen it on the shelf in the past year, but others brewed the combo too - maybe even Rogue? But Red Hook had the Starbuck's I believe.
At one time I thought I heard that one of the principals who started the Red Hook brewery was also a principal in the Starbuck's Coffee chain - anyone know if this is true?

Both Redhook and Starbucks were started by Gordon Bowker. I believe that both companies have since been sold. (Redhook is now brewed by A-B (?company. ))
The last bottle of Double Black Stout that I had did NOT mention Starbucks on the label anywhere - just aluded to a Seatle coffee

Anheuser Busch bought into Redhook for a third of the company a few years ago - jumpin' on the bandwagon because they saw the potential in micro brewed beers (read: beers with flavor). The owner(s) of Redhook saw the potential of a large influx of money to be used to open an east coast brewery to handle demand due to rising popularity. At no time did AB ever have a hand in the brewing of the beer - at least that's the way it stood a couple years ago. Don't know what the status of Redhook is these days - their popularity seems to have waned some.

Redhook.com has a great deal of info on the company and its breweries - including financials and press releases. Gordon Bowker is indeed listed as one of the brewery's founders, but second behind Paul Shipman.
According to the press releases, it appears that Redhook is enjoying growing sales. Alas, I didn't see the coffee stout listed on their product page.

Both Surdyk's and Liquor Depot are excellent stores. But my favorite Twin Cities beer store is Blue Max Liquors in Burnsville. Over 800 beers and well worth the trip.

OH! MY! GOD!!!!!!!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
I drove over to Blue Max during lunch today! I just got back. It was a drive, from downtown Mpls. out to Burnsville, but well worth the trip!
I drove up into the parking lot and was thinking, this little place? What is this guy (skar) talking about?
I WAS BLOWN AWAY! What a great selection of English Ales! And so many others to try!
Skar, I owe you a pint or two.
Cheers!
