As a midwesterner, I wanted to give props to a brewery that batkins turned me on to from a couple of trades we've done. They make great beer, and deserve the accolades. This is from the monthly realbeer email:
OREGON'S PELICAN PUB TOPS AUSTRALIAN COMPETITION
An American brewpub won top honors last month at the Australian International Beer Awards. Brewer Darron Welch of the Pelican Pub & Brewery in Pacific City, Oregon, was on hand to pick up the grand champion trophy. "We just came in and showed you guys (in Australia) how to play your own game," the pub's general manager, Don Brouhard, told an Australian newspaper. "It's almost like going in and taking care of the soccer world ... or the cricket world." Welch won for his India Pelican Ale, an India Pale Ale. He and the pub are hardly strangers to success. Pelican Pub was judge Small Brewpub of the year at the 2000 Great American Beer Festival. Seven other North American breweries took home medals in the international competition - and in most cases multiple medals. They were Boston Beer (Samuel Adams beers), Rogue Ales, Pete's Brewing, Deschutes Brewery, BridgePort Brewing, Spoetzl Brewery (Shiner), and Unibroue.
Thanks for the trades, Bill! Another shipment is on it's way to you!
