View Full Version : Ball lock post ratchet
Does anyone know where I can get a ratchet for a ball lock post? I'm having a real hard time tightening them on. It took about 20 minutes with a pipe wrench until I was satisfied enough. On the bright side my german ale now has a carbonation stone going to work on it :)

I use a 22mm wrench on mine. You should be able to get a 22mm deep socket at any auto parts place.

there is (or at least I have) three different sizes of posts depending on the vintage and maker of your pepsi corny. Go get yourself a cheapie set of box wrenches, with an open and a closed end. You'll need the closed end for the star gas in post. The majority of mine are either 7/8" or 13/16", IIRC....

FYI -- On sale at Sears for 19.99 (normally $40): an 18 pc set (9 SAE, 9 Metric) of Craftsman deep sockets. I got a set last weekend for working with my kegs. They fit all but one of my connectors -- because the one connector is a 12-pt and these sockets are 6-point.
Click here! (http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&pid=00934551000) Or if the link doesn't work just go to Sears and find them for yourself!

Never mind the Ball Locks!:D
I actually got a deep 7/8" socket and it works great. I was surprised how well I had tightened the posts the first time. My kegs are Firestones by the way. Hopefully the socket will work for the kegs I'm receiveing tomorrow.

This is the Sex Pistols?
I use a 7/8" box end wrench with no problems at all.
