talk to me man! don't trust the mechanics! they tried to charge me around $4500 i think it was...ouch!!! i did most of it myself and it cost less then $2000 . i had to have someone else yank out and rebuild the trannie. but i redid the cooling system for less then $300 (they wanted $1,200). and i DIDN'T need a new waterpump like they said! or heater core. bastards... and i told them i was a mechanic! well not an auto mechanic ,i work on industrial machinery, but i got a solid idea on how a car works. they said i needed a new water pump because the transmission fluid got in the cooling system and screwed up the rubber seals in the pump? i said "they're rubber? are you sure there not teflon,arlon...avalon maybe? i've never seen a rubber seal next to a highspeed bearing like that ?" then he said ....well i don't know, im not sure what they're made of" and i said, "then why are you talking as if you do know?" "never mind i'll do it myself!" geesh!
anyway let me know when you can make it for those belgians!
or if there's anything i can do?

cheers

Knowledge is power. Kinda fun catching people in a lie. Finding an honest mechanic can be like a needle in a haystack, but when you do, stick with him/her for life. Enjoy the Begian Fest!

Cheers!

thnx newportstorm,
and you're right , i've got a 1000 stories like that. once they tried to charge my wife $200 becuase of the positive crankcase ventilation??? and they wanted $50 in parts and $150 for labor.
i said" hmmm ?? positive crankcase ventilation? you mean a (pcv) valve? anyway i picked one up at the auto store for $2.99 and it took 2 minutes to install...

While there last month, I was chatting with an English friend who said she was afraid to go to the continent for the same reason.
