Well after the first week I found:

Started with the water steveh...ahhh cool refreshing...wait I think I found my winner here...just kidding

Next I tried one I didn't have on my list "Malta"
A question...Why does the rate beer site have non alchohol and mead but does not include malta ?? Hell malta is at least a brew and seems a whole lot closer to beer than mead. A dare you to try and pour a head from a bottle of mead....can't be done.
Sweet, very sweet and sticky as maple syrup, yuch.

Next up was the official DD beer. O'Douls. Had somewhat of a beer taste, I guess. A very light beer taste.

Next I felt the need to watch my carbs, in came the ultra. This has got to be the absolute lightest color beer I have ever seen.
Not much of a taste there, or a color, or much of anything else.

Next up Cave Creek Chili beer. I recommend this beer if you want to kill your palate in the first sip. Closest thing I can imagine to drinking pepper spray. After 2 sips I passed the rest to my GF.
When I said thats too damn hot for a beer, her statement "Y'all up in the northeast are a bunch a wusses when it comes to hot." Whatever, I still dont want my beer to bite back.

Next up another GF favorite Tequiza, The beer for people who want to pretend they are not drinking beer.
Amusing flavor but too many of these (like more than one) would make me barf.

Next up BUD. Hmm, not bad, definately poundable...but rated so low...Hmmm maybe I am missing something.......Let me try another 6.
Oh well, old habits die hard :-)

Final for this update and surprise of the week, Schaefer.
Has all the poundability of Bud but seems to have a slightly better taste. and to think....a 12 of these is about the cost of a 6 of bud. All the time....all the wasted time.

End of Update

I agree with your method (work up to the nice ones), but I pity you in the first weeks!

We used to joke about Schafer: "Buddy, you wanna drink with me, you're drinkin' SCHAFER!" The best part about Schafer to me is that there's more $$$ left over to find a sixer of Sierra Nevada... or maybe a growler of "The 90"! :D

I applaud you in your efforts... I'll be watching this thread carefully!

I sent a message to our moderator - maybe he can combine the posts and make them do what you wanted in the first place, no?

Umm...I don't think I can from my end... I'll double check. I don't think it's too much of a problem to have started a new thread. Maybe we can link to the first one, though, in order for others to see the original list.

Well This has been a rough week.

I have to honestly say, how anyone could rate the domestic macros lower than some of the imports I had this week is totally beyond me......

First victim was OB Lager from the fine country of South Korea.
Well the smell was definately there and as soon as I tasted it I knew it was true. But I still am a little surprised that you can bottle cat pizz and call it beer....go figure ??? Strike one

Next Yanjing the official beer of the peoples republic of China.
Very yellow with a head that said "damn they can see me" and immediately disappeared. The scent wasn't so bad, kind of an apple scent. Then I tasted it. It left the after taste of sucking on a lead pencil. Man, this was a rough one to get through. Strike Two.

Next came de Carib from de islands of trinidad and tabago mon.
The bottle looked very carribean. On the pour the wonderful scent of skunk wafted up and hit me right between the eyes.
Well I suppose I shouldn't have expected much more from a clear bottle beer with even a translucent label. However on the taste, it really wasn't that bad it was kind of smooth and refreshing.
Not good but better than expected.

Next came our old faithful from Mexico "Corona". I must ask, why is this beer so popular ?? It has a nasty smell, a nasty palate and a harsh nasty after taste. Maybe it was because I didn't have a lime floating around in it, but damn.....one word, nasty. Strike three.

Next came 33 export from, oh good god, Vietnam. South Korea, Vietnam, I thought this must be payback or something.
I opened the bottle and held it at a distance expecting something nasty to jump out at me. There really wasn't too much in the scent to pick out. It poured a little darker than the others I had.
Then the taste........Damn, that was one hell of a surprise, it was good, damn good and smooth going down. I was truly pleasantly suprised from this one. Now understand my elation, when I say good, read the 4 reviews above and take it in stride, but I did find it enjoyable. It would have been my highlight beer of the week if it wasn't for the final one.

The final one for this update was Cruz Campo from Spain.
This one poured a nice light amber with a good lasting head.
The scent gave a hint at apple but after the Yanjing I was pretty leary about it. However this beer gave no nasty surprises.
It was smooth and pleasant to drink with a definate background taste of green sour apples. all and all a very pleasant beer. That is why I chose it as my highlight beer of the week.

Hopefully next week will supply some more palatable beers.

I often drink "33" when eating Vietnamese food. I agree it is not that bad and does compliment the food.
