Freeminer Brewery Ltd. - bottled and sold on behalf of Freeminer Brewery by Wessex Craft Brewers Ltd., Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire, England.
16.9 oz brown, conditioned bottle, 6.0% ABV.
Bottle inspection shows sediment inside the bottle's neck. This bottle was upright when purchased, carried home upright in a liquor box, and set upright in my fridge - hmm.
A careful pour reveals a hazy, amber-gold beer with a thick, white to tan head. The head slowly settles to a rolling, snowdrift looking cap, leaving nice lacing in its wake.
Citrus nose with aromas of orange and peach. Biscuit malt and mild toffee notes back - becoming near to all malts with full warming.
Biscuit and toffee malt flavors with mellow citrus esters and some piney notes following. Nice bittering hops back in a good balance.
Thin to medium body with a slick, syrupy mouth-feel. Even though this ale is pretty foamy, it holds the characteristic mouthfeel of a BCA.
A very pleasant ale. I find it a cross between other English IPAs I've sampled (Fuller's and Sam Smith) and the American style IPA -- without going overboard on the hops.
There's no bottling or expiration date on this beer's label, but it would be interesting to lay a couple bottles down for later sampling.
