I'll be in Norfolk in the beginning of June for a few days and am still not sure if I will have time to visit a brew pub or beer bar. If I get time (probably only one visit) can someone recommend the best place to try that is near. Thanks for the info.

I posted this a while back:
Bier Barden (http://www.biergarden.com)
Looks to have a huge selection. I've not been yet but will certainly be looking for an excuse to visit soon.

I have read great things about that place although I have not been there either.

Hop on the Interstate and head down to Virginia Beach, there's a little place on 22nd ST between Atlantic and Pacific Ave called Abbey Road. It's a Beatles tribute bar and grill with a fantastic selection of beers. If I remember right they had somewhere around 170 or so mostly bottles, but some on tap. Enjoy!

Beatles and beer! What could be better. I just was in St. Johns Wood at the real Abbey Road last month. Anyway, Welcome to the board.

The Foggy Bottom is Gary Heurich's beer. It is sold in bottles all over the region. It is contract brewed at FX Matts. One day Gary will open a brewpub in DC. His grandfather was an important brewer in DC (He was DC's largest) and had branches in Norfolk and Baltimore. The old Brewery was situated where the Kennedy Center now sits. It was shut down in 1956 after nearly 100 years. Gary is a great guy and his various Foggy Bottom beers are decent. I knew about his airport pub in Norfolk. I am a collector of Heurich Breweriana.

Forgot to mention that the name Foggy Bottom comes from the area of DC where the brewery was located along the Potomac River and stretches up to the area where George Washington University now sits.
