Pioneer Brewing Company, Black River Falls, WI. SEP17, 04 drink-by stamp on the label.
Poured a deep, brown copper color with a thick, cream colored head that quickly settled to a thin cap.
Roasted and caramel malts in nose.
Roasted malt flavor with some ester tartness - warm ferment? Slightest hop tang in the aftertaste.
Thin to medium body, slightly syrupy mouth-feel.
Drinkable, yet more of a Brown Ale, even an Alt, in style than the Bock packaging belies.
Hmm, 2 strike-outs in the same weekend - maybe I need to stick with trades and the good beer bar? :/
