Well, I can help you pare down your list by about a sixth, if you'd like. ;)

I know as I have seen some of them are considered, below par....umm maybe way below par, but for a new real beer palate like mine how can I truly tell I diamond if I never taste a rough ?

fair enough. at least there's plenty of good on the list to make up for the taste-challenged ones. If you take notes on it all that would be a nice little compendium. Also, maybe don't go from start to finish, as your list seems a little frontloaded towards the less delectable, and you wouldn't want to get discouraged.

I don't think even the worst beer could discourage me :D

Well, not in all of the cases (IMO, and no pun intended)

Careful what you wish for! I agree with Student, mix 'em up!

And, in answer to your question about tasting a rough from a diamond - try comparing some of those roughs to water as you're sampling...

On the other hand, a side-by-side with Bud and Pilsner Urquell could be quite telling. As well as Beck's alongside Heineken, or Corona with Carib - wait - scratch the last one as far as interesting.

I think what you are doing is very cool. I think your list is a good one. Some of those beers may not be my favorites, but at least if you start macro bashing after your tasting we will know that you have at least tried it recently, which is more than we can say for a few folks on this board.

Enough Old Style, Coors, Olympia, Old Milwaukee, Strohs, Blatz, Hamms, Busch, Miller and Miller Lite in college and just after to last me a lifetime and leave a lasting impression.

How's that saying go - oh yeah, Life's too short to drink bad beer! ;)

Forgot one !!! Shame on me....

I picked one up yesterday that is a westmalle dubbel
Vintage 1996.....Don't know how that will taste but I figure
since I dont even know what a westmalle dubbel tastes like fresh,
I better try that before I try the vintage.

Uhhh... don't bother. Tell you what I'll do for you. I'll trade you a "vintage" Schlitz for that Westmalle swill.

Whaddaya say?... :D

Well...those two are locked and loaded ;)

Nice list by the way...but those first twenty or so....

Here's an idea - have half of the macros right off, then the rest at the very end; see how your perspective changes!

Seems to be rather a dearth of bottle-conditioned beers amongst that lot. No Fuller's 1845! Shame on you!

I could give you the names of around 500 British BCAs you could try to add to the few that you already have.

You know, by the time he's done with this list, he might just decide that he likes Coke better than Pepsi and leave it at that....
