Ok guys which is better? I dont want to sock cash into the Sunrise if it is comparable or less than the Sam Adams Summer Ale.

My neighbor raves about the Victory Sunrise Weiss, says its better than Sam Adams Summer Ale.

OPinions??????

I don't know. Just tried the Sam Adams Summer Ale last night, and it had to be without doubt the tartest beer I've ever tasted. This stuff makes Celis White taste like Bud Light by comparison. Probably won't be going back for more anytime soon.

Sam Summer was always a middle of the road summer quencher for me. Nothing too exciting. Not ever having the Sunrise Weiss, I'd say everything I've had from Victory has been good to stellar.

BTW, why do you have to "sock cash" into the Victory? Can't you have a taste of it with your neighbor? Or is he a selfish bastard?:p Seriously, unless NJ has weird case laws like PA, grab a single, a sixer or ask your neighbor for a bottle before plunking down any $$ for it.

Cheers!

the Sunrise is one of the few beers that i havent seen around here in the beer stores. Actually I had some. The neighbor picked me up a growler of it and i plan on having on tap by sat. i wouldnt say that it was "way" better than the Sam adams summer, but it was better. like i said i thin kthat sam changed the recipe but it is still good.

I haven't had the Victory Sunrise Weiss, but I love the Sam Adams Summer. I would go with that one.

4th of July weekend I had the chance to have Sam vs Sunrise. Holy crap! Sunrise wins hands down. It was so much more flavorful than the Sam. It was more citrusy, I really cant explain it like a lot of guys here, but it was better. The sam just had a plain jane taste.

just my opinion though;)

i have never tried the sunrise, but the summer ale to me seems to taste different this summer than last summer. I too think they changed something in their receipe, but the best summer brew i have had this summer is Bell's Oberon.....a very tastey american wheat with a nice citrus aftertaste.

Haven't tried the Sunrise, and even as an avid fan of most Boston Brewing Co. brews, I can't really recommend the Summer. A little on the tart side, and not a very good aftertaste.

The Full Sail Switchback is a good choice (IMO) for a Summer Seasonal.

Another excellent, albeit recent, entry into the "summer quencher" market is New Belgium's Loft. Very nicely balanced flavor between the malts and the hops.

Anyone else tried this one yet?
