I have been (rather unsuccessfully) looking for a Sheaf Stout clone recipe for some time now. Does anyone out there have any ideas? I've tried contacting the conglomerate who owns it, but to no avail. I do know that they use lager yeast, but I'm not sure if they actually lager the beer (doesn't tase like it to me) or if they use a "steam" fermentation. (which I know is copyrighted to Anchor, but that copyright may not extend internationally)
While this is not my favorite beer by any means, I've been trying to come up with a comperable recipe due to a friend's allergies. Our group of friends drinks more then their fair share of Guinness at gatherings, but alas, my friend Natalie is allergic to American, Canadian, and British Isles malt, hops, and yeast. I introduced her to Sheaf Stout, and now she wants me to come up with a homebrewed version for her.
If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them. Thanks.
