It's a red ale. I wish some of you were able to sample it as well so I could get some expert opinions before I hand it out to some of my friends.

It had a little bit of a bitter aftertaste, but good carbonation and color. However, it was definitely drinkable and it was much more satisfying than any other beer I have ever had!! Is it just me or was anyone else giddy about brewing their very own beer for the first time? Anyway, I let it condition in bottles for 12 days. Can someone tell me if bitterness decreases with a longer conditioning period?

Overall, a great success!! I can't wait to down a few more this weekend!!

Dude...welcome aboard!!!!
Us, excited about beer.....naawww.....(NOT) Obsessed would probably be a better word...

I was the exact same way with my very first Amber Ale!!!
And yes, the bitter edge will smooth out as time goes by, if it lives that long!!
Actually, when my Amber smoothed out, I kind of missed the bitter spike at the end, I had grown used to it!

I am making a red ale tonight! I am excited, it should be real good if it comes out like my Amber did.

Keep sampling your brew, though I don't think that will be a problem, you'll be amazed at the changes it goes through and how quickly it changes as well!!

I am on my 7th batch now with 3 fermenting, 2 gone, one fading fast and one carbonating....
It's addictive and probably the best beer you'll ever have....

Happy brewing!!!

Paul.
