higher OG and a yeast with a higher attenuation.

Basically, more fermentable sugars which can be accomplished in a few different manners. Like adding the belgian candy sugar which is highly fermentable, fruit which cranks up the alcohol content, or simply adding more malt which does the same thing.
I have friends that add plain old sugar, I would avoid that approach, I would think that processed sugar would not be very good. There's also honey which supposedly smooths out the finish as well.
Along with the higher alcohol content, as noted by B3s, would be the need for a more alcohol resistant yeast, probably more hops to counter the stronger flavors of fruit, malt or whatever you added.
And more fermenting and aging time (probably) due to the higher level of fermentables.

Just look at the existing recipe kits and see what they use to crank it up.
