Pours a hazy yellow with a thin white head. The aroma has faint whisps of floral hops and a touch of bready malt. First sip is crisp and clean with the malt and hops mingling well together and a very nice carbonation bite that reminds me of a lazy spring day in the hammock. Has a hint of what tastes to me like wet hay but it is suprisingly not a detraction from the beer. An aftertaste that says "beer" is certainly there as well as a touch of green apple and sulfur from a lager fermentation and a hint of DMS coming across as cream corn.

All the flavors that I would expect from a Pils are there making this a pleasent beer to quaff on any given day. Always the hop head I was a little disappointed in the hop profile, thinking the malt could actually stand much more. Very drinkable beer and will probably become a frequent visitor to my fridge.

(warning, thread hijack in progress...)

brewmonkey, been meaning to ask you this for awhile now. Boulevard beers are now being distributed in the Mpls/St. Paul market now, and they appear to be of a KC origin. What can you tell us about them?

What do you want to know about them? I am very familiar with them as I served 3 years as the VP of the guild of which they are members and am friends with most of the brewing staff.

They make SOLID beers and are very humble about what they do. They truly believe in the products they put out and nothing leaves until it passes rigid QA.

Fire away and if I will be happy to answer any questions I can.

I think you answered my question, which was essentially whether or not I should actually try them... So, another product on the list...

OK, here's a bit of a more detailed question, if one was to only purchase a couple of sixers of their product, which ones would you pick first? Do they have a specialty?

From their regular line up of beers I would go for the Bully! Porter, It is IMHO a damned fine Porter. From the seasonal beers you will have to wait until September for my favorite of theirs and that is the Bob's 47.

Here is their website if you have not been to it. www.blvdbeer.com

I've been drinking Boulevard beers when I get a chance for the last 5 or 6 years now, and I completely agree with Brewmonkey; the Porter is terrific, and the Bob's 47 is the perfect Fall weekend session beer. I've also always liked their Pale Ale - nothing spectacular, but good and consistent. You know, I haven't tried the Zon, though. Any thoughts?

I am not a fan of the Zon, but I also do not like many Belgian Wit's. My wife however thinks it is awesome and we stock up on it when it is out.
