sooo...i have some spare time, money and space...what a perfect time to make a kegerator! i was hoping that some of the people on this board would share some of their suggestions and ideas. I'm pretty sure that i'll only have one brew on tap at a time (5 gallon batches), although i wouldn't mind having the option of adding a second. I'm also convinced that a chest freezer is better than a fridge.

Now...here are the questions:
1. Should i go the corny keg route, or a barrel keg?
2. Tower tap or side-mounted tap?
3. which supply store would you recommend?
4. what's the point of the wooden "trim" that i see so often built onto these chest freezer kegerators?

thanks in advance!

The wood part is called a collar. You put the collar between the freezer body and the lid, basically raising the lid. Then you can make any holes, to run hoses and tap shanks through, in the wooden collar. No holes in the freezer and no nicked coolant lines.
