Do you do virtual tastings.
I think it would be great to have a chat channel set up and a beer chosen a month in advance to let everyone have time to get their mits on one
then some of you 1000 post old members can teach us 100s a thing or two

It's been mentioned before. I thnk it would be a great idea.
BTW, your post doesn't make sense anymore now that you are a 200s guy (congrats!).

i agree its a good idea. i always forget there is an IRC channel to use. i really should hang out there. the only problem would be finding things available to most everyone-- we'd probably have better luck with english/belgian/german than american micros.

Porblem would be with regional differences as well as some states do not allow beers above a certain ABV. Might be easier to go with a style then a specific beer.

this thread (http://www.realbeer.com/discussions/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1883&highlight=chat) has some info by tweek about how to get an irc client and how to sign on. its really simple btw.
we really should sticky somewhere the IRC address as well as simple directions on how to get a client and how to sign on--it might remind people to try it out.

I like the style idea. We could do an IPA night with maybe one or two suggested brands, but have anyone come in and sample any IPA.

there must be an IRC client for macs. I dont know if you are on OS9 or X but a google search of irc mac came up with lots of hits.
