I am looking for a little advise about the TCBF. Did anyone on the board go last year? If so, how was it and any details you could give would be nice.... I plan on going, but was going to brush up before then.

I did....it was a lot fun. The brewers were very generous with their time. Be there or be ^2.

I know a couple of the Zealots - they're cool guys. I'll be entering two - a barley wine and an American ESB.

If enough guys from the board are going we should plan a meeting location - like the Gingerman and then proceed to the festival. Anybody interested? We could be the Realbeer Homebrew Club, Texas Chapter.

Sounds good Eddie...... Do I understand by the website that there is no entry fee for the homebrew contest??? Could not find it mentioned anywhere....

Website said it was at 4th and San Antonio? What is there?

The Gingerman is about 1 block away. The Bitter End Brew Pub is only about 2 blocks away. Fado Irish Pub is about 2 blocks away.

I know about those, but is this an outdoor event? What is 4th and San Antonio? Park? Fairground?

Oh sorry. 4th and San Antonio is between a small park and a parking lot. If you remember where Waterloo Brewing was - it's the area immediately west of it. The festival was on the street between the park and lot.

Eddy i have a couple of questions about the TCBF. Cost and size of samples? Can additional tasters be purchased, or is it like the GABF? How much for one of the guided tours? Im trying to plan
my trip.........

The samples last year on the taste tour were about a half pint, IIRC. The taste tour was kind of worthless for me - but good for the beer noobs. I had to hold my tongue a few times to keep from correcting the "guide"(a few times I didn't hold my tongue :) ). Seems like the guided tour was about $15 - not sure though. I was well on my way to buzzed by the end of the tour. More tokens can be purchased, IIRC.

Funny how drinking a lot of beer in the 104F sun can remove a lot of specific details, memory-wise.

Yeah it was a good time, for sure. BREWERDLUX and his wife and great people and a lot of fun to hang out with.

Real Ale had a cask conditioned Rye on tap that out of this world. Asked Brad Farbstein(head brewer at Real Ale) how much hops he put in it. Answer "Six handfuls". Gotta love precision in brewing - lol.

I wore some hops from a casked IPA that Bitter End had....Whoops! Eddy was the only one who did not spill...I think?
Allot of good quality beers..

Vienna style lager with a serrano pepper in it. Tastier than it sounds....

I can see why it won then, because it sounds very good.
I keep hearing about these pepper beers. I guess I need to break down and try me a batch to get it out of my system or in my blood.

Was kind of neat. Just enough sting to make your lips tingle and a good pepper flavor combined with vienna backbone.
