Well, its vacation time, and I'll be heading out to Miami and then Key West soon. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some good beer bars/pubs in these cities? I've heard of a place called Kelly's on Key West that is a brewery/pub, but the reviews are so/so, and Miami is sure to be filled with good places, so any help is appreciated.

The trip was a blast, but to be honest, I didnt try as many new beers as I would have liked to. In South Beach I got caught up in the Cuba Libre and later the rumrunner craze, but did manage to swing by Kelly's (I think its called), a prewpub in Key West. They had several brews on tap, and I had their "red". I also bought their Sunset Ale, which I think was the same beer, but which the bartender didnt seem to know. The red had a good malty flavor with a slight hop bitterness. Little to no nose, and "middle of the road" (for lack of a better word) mouthfeel, and a good red color. A decent brew but nothing to shout about. Great setting, I think Pan Am airlines was started in its building, but not the best beer for a warm sunny day in the Keys. They also had a stout, a wheat (probably what I should have drank), and a lager. Next time.

I suggest that you visit South Beach next February for the FABfest. (Food-Arts-Beverage). Most of Florida's brewers make some sort of appearance but I go for the plethora of cask ales from the UK.

I used to live in key west. There aren't any good beer bars anymore, but make sure to stop by The Green Parrot, Pepe's, and the Bull

Welcome to the board! I get emails from a Florida based beer site. Next time I get one I'll post the link here.
