No beer during Passover? > gasp < A close friend of mine is Jewish, but she didn't say anything about abstaining?! Then again, she doesn't drink that much beer anyway.

Good luck Student, if nothing else - the beer will taste all the sweeter in 8 more days!

I've been suffering from the same thing but for different reasons. I have not had a beer in several weeks because I am on the evil diet. I've lost 11 lbs though!! I read all of these posts and get thirsty! I've been sampling different tequilas as they are carb free. I'll be vacationing starting this friday for a week or so and I'm going to drink some brews for sure! I'll go back on the diet when I return until I head for London May 7th. I can certify and guarantee I'll not be on Atkins the eight days I'll be vacationing there! CASK ALE!!!!

I just saw a headline in the new Ale Street News that a local brewpub (Ramapo Valley, Suffern NY) brewed a Kosher for Passover beer. I didn't read the story yet...

I have not yet seen the current Ale Street. Would you let me know if there are any articles in it relating to that South Beach festival I was at. They were there and I met and drank with several of their folks. Also there was the Mid Atlantic Brew News.

if it's the same article i read, the "beer" wasn't really beer, or at least what i think of as beer. more of a mead or something. it used honey and molasses or something.

unfortunately beer is made with fermented grains which pretty much makes it by definition chametz. fortunately im not especially observant or i'd have to get rid of all the beer in the apartment even. boy would that have made for an interesting weekend.

Student, you're correct. I just read the article while I was on lunch and it's exactly what you've described -- not beer. Hope your 8 days pass fast!

Chaz, there's a 1 page article on FABfest that I didn't read yet. I just picked up the ASN yesterday when I went to check out the new (and improved) Times Square Brewery.

There's also an article, which I haven't read yet, in the Celebrator.

It is a fun Festival and the casks are great. I've been both years and I am hopeful that it will get more exposure and grow. The first year it was 64 casks this past year there were over 30. They said they had some left over from the first year and scaled it down a bit. I'd love to see that number increase again. Is Celebrator online? I would not mind reading the article. I can pick up Ale Street.

Thats not all, imagine my suprise when I turned to page 25 and saw a my ugly mug in a picture accompanying a separate article. Jeez! I have not seen my name in print since the early days of the Malt Advocate. And my picture since I was on the cover of a local fishing rag back in the 80s.
