View Full Version : Voter Fraud

Well, it looks like the ballot-stuffers have gotten their ways again - I watched the voting to the last minute and a sudden surge pushed the Orange Julius, fad beer over the top again. The new tactics appear to have been gleened from eBay auction snipers - wait till the last minute, then flood the system.
At this rate, a true representation of popularity (never mind what's really a good beer) has been skewed beyond reality, and I wouldn't blame the administrators if we never see a BoB again, let alone suspending the battle this year.
On the other hand, I wouldn't mind seeing Dreadnaught put Mandarin in its place - c'mon all you hop-heads, where are ya? Let's get out the vote!! If it isn't too late.

Okay - wadda I know? And numbers have always been my weak point. I just looked at the brackets, saw the Mandarin at the end of a bracket (again) and figured that was the next match-up.
Reading being one of my stronger points, I really ought to rely on it more often...
Sorry for the mistake-driven rant.

Go Dreadnaught! Er....No.. Go Dogfish!...er......... I can't decide which is better. I think right now I'd like to see the Dreadnaught win the whole show.

I don't know, can we just call it a 4-way draw now?

No, I want to watch Brutal Bitter massacre the porter.

What Porter? The Brutal Bitter is going up against Ol' Rasputin Imperial Stout next. The other bracket is Dogfish Head 90 Minute and 3-Fs Dreadnaught Imperial India Pale Ales (I took the time to read the brackets this time!).

I had Old Rasputin on tap at my local pizza pub last weekend (out of nowhere, they throw Old Raspy and DFH Raison on tap, when they've rarely ever had any craft beer available - not that I'm complaining!). It was an excellent stout, but I believe Bell's Expedition Stout blows it away.
I recall a few weeks ago a wise man Fret, warning us all of the pending doom associated with voting for the trendy, hoppy beer of the moment. A prophet indeed...

Hope ole Fret's move is going well for him. He really wanted to get back to CO.

Sadly, I have been unable to vote as all, as I haven't been here once on a Tuesday night.

The DFH Hop Daddies really flooded the votes yesterday. The balance of percentages doesn't do justice to how good 3-F Dreadnaught really is.
Oh well, I guess I'll just live in the comfort of knowing that I have it readily available to me, and maybe 3-F will remain a humble little micro, not get all full of itself, and continue to brew outstanding beer (no, that's not an editorial comment pointed at DFH, I consider their beer outstanding too).

Steveh, I purchased a sixer of the 3F's Robert the Bruce yesterday. What are your impressions of it. I have not sampled it yet. By the way, I'll be sending a package your way hopefully next week. I did pick up some of the Hop Pocket Ale but I would like to find a fresher (is that a word?) sample. I'm gonna send some other things that you may be interested in as well. I did find several bottles of the Old Engine Oil Special. Did you need any more of that?

I just tried 3-Floyds (see my other posting) Dreadnaught. And though I would vote for it in front of DFH. With that being said
I think the 60,90 & 120 Minute IPA's are fine brews & worthy
of the coveted battle of the beer prize!!! I'm also a big Rogue fan
though I have to admit I've not tried Brutal Bitter. After reading
some other threads I think the beer snobs (myself included) can
be happy that a couple quality beers made it. I have to agree with the wisdom that it would be sad to have a fruit beer win it.
(talk about trendy).

Though not a Porter, the Old Ras is a little lighter/thinner than most Impy Stouts. Beer style classifications get in the way sometimes. So I'll just call it "tasty". :D Few can argue with that.
Cheers!

I haven't sampled it in a few months, but it's always one of the last beers I have at a sitting - due to it being a bit on the heavier bodied side. It's also quite good in CC form. Typical of 3-F's beers, hoppy - yet well balanced, nice roastiness in the Scotch Ale style.

There's no hurry on that, you're more than generous! No need on the OEOS either, I've got a pretty good supplier if I need more, thanks though.

Your memory seems right on-- I've got a few left from a 6-pack and that's how I'd describe it. Nicely hopped with a solid malt roast and a bit of sweetness to give it that scotch ale flavor. tasty! even so, i probably prefer some of their other beers.
not to complain too much b/c i think they make great beer (ever visited the brewery? i really want to soon) but $7 for a bomber--even of dreadnaught--seems a bit unhumble to me. i was much happier when they were $3.79.
