In reference to favorite holiday brews, there is a type of beer brewed in Germany only around Christmas time. It is called "dampf bier" which translates into 'steam beer'. It is nothing like Anchor Steam, just so you know.
This beer is a wonderful malty extravaganza that is very drinkable and delicious. The only place that I had found it in last time in Germany was a little Bavarian town called Zwiesel. It is a small glass-making town in eastern bavaria near the czech border.
Now that is a beer worth seeking out!
