The Scottish Beer Bible

I just acquired the Scottish Beer Bible by Gavin D. Smith (Mercat Press; £9.99). It looks to be an interesting read on the Scottish brewing scene with all of the breweries of Scotland included. Published in 2001 it is ever so slightly out of date (Fisherows is listed but they've since closed down, the Aviemore & Tomintoul are still listed as spearate breweries, and Harviestoun's Champion Beer "Bitter & Twisted" is not even listed) but this can be forgiven owing to the brewing scene being very dynamic, both for good and ill, for the past few years. I'd still recommend it to all and sundry.

but of course me does.
But you also spy someone who used to work with a Scot who would drink his "9% of pure heaven" on the train in the morning after a heavy session the night before.
