this past saturday I made the trip to Old Hookys place to learn how to do all grain. now that I've seen how it works it won't be long before I'll be set-up to do my own ag. outside of cost of equipment I was wondering exactly how better does the ag compare to an extract and I can now say that Old Hookys ag beers put my extract to shame. Beers sampled were mish-mash, speckled hen, courage esb and fraoch heather ale.

Strangely thou we somehow must have satisfied the homebrew gods as we were sipping and chatting we relized that we both grew up in the same city, attended the same hs and graduated in the same year.

Beer is Good..

I am going to join KLOB in Kalamazoo to meet more brewers.

What is available in GR for club org. and camaraderie?

I may join there as well or maybe you guys could consider KLOB.

I was nice to brew a batch with another homebrewer. Maybe we should start our own club. There are several people on this forum from W Michigan.

I may have a brew party the next time I brew and see who shows. I think it would be cool. I'll post it on this thread.

I lived in G.R. in a former life and would like to come back to make new friends.

I will make myself available and bring some of my brew!

That would be really cool if you guys started your own club. I have been thinking about doing the same thing. I have a bunch of guys recently express interest in learning how to brew, so if they get hooked I think Ill start up a club and not have to deal with the politics of an established one.

Yesterday on channel 13 they had a story about New Holland Brewery and their new seasonal Red Tulip Ale. Any way I email them and ask if they do tours. They wrote back and were excited that I had asked about the tour and said they need to know when I'd like to see the brewery. I told them Saturday works best. I was thinking maybe we could all meet there on a Saturday in May? They also told me that the last Thursday of each month they have a brew club.

Let me know what you guys think?

I am a couple hours from Grand Rapids but would be interested in getting together with fellow homebrewers of Michigan for some good ole beer brewing and drinking.

The latter part of May works for me.

Count me in if we can do that.

I was at an auction house the other day and they had some converted keg brew pots. I'm not sure when they are going to auction them off but here is their website.

You can see the stuff at their warehouse. 76th and 131

Here is the reply from John at New Holland

Barring any unforeseen events I was planning on being at the brewery this saturday if you guys would like to arrange something. Otherwise, the 22nd may work if you can do that. The other weekends are definitely out this month

I'm up for the 22nd.

Saturday the 22 @ 11am at the directions below, see ya there!

Directions from GR: 196 West to Holland/Zeeland Exit 55. Take Chicago drive veer rt for 8 miles. When you come to an intersection that has 2 big billbords to your left and a big red double decker muppet bus, make a left onto Fairbanks
Ave. You will notice the road is closed however their is space to
drive up the the brewery. We are on the corner of 8th and Fairbanks.

And if these aren't good enough look up the website or buy a sixer and look up the address.
