Have any of you guys been to the Bock beer festival at the August Schell brewery in New Ulm, MN? It's this weekend and it is a GREAT time. They usually have a crowd of 4-5000 people out there wandering the grounds of the brewery drinking bock beer, listening to music and just plain partying. How many breweries in the country would put on an event like that!I'm a townie so I've been enjoying it for a couple decades now.I'll be there saturday partying big time, I never miss it.

I've heard about this for years and was toying with making the trip this year just for the fun. Work and other problems got in the way, maybe something to plan for next year.

Schell was probably the first all-malt U.S. beer I ever had. I discovered it back around '85 when Merchant Duvin started distributing it around the country. I guess I'd have to call it the beer that launched me into micros.

I saw a short piece on Schell Brewing on a Travel Channel show about Minnesota - hosted by your body-slamming leader. He voted it best "day trip" to soak in the German culture, atmoshere & beer. Sounds like a blast - enjoy!
