Sorry if this has already been asked, I did a search and didn't find the answer.
I'm wondering what troubles I might run into if I try to do secondary fermentation in cornie kegs? I am looking to increase my capacity and have some extra cornies. Will I have to modify the cornie in any way to accomodate for fermentation?

BrewMonkey had some tips in a previous thread. He mentioned cutting a little bit off of the beer dip tube so that the yeast at the bottom does not get sucked up during bottling/kegging. He also mentioned using a gas disconnect with a short piece of hose running into sanitizer for your air lock. I recently tried a secondary ferment in a corny. It does leave the corny kind of messy but it works well.

A couple of times when I was in a hurry I kegged straight from primary. I let it sit a week, carbonated, and drank. The first pint or so had a lot of yeast in it but after that it was fine. So using a keg as a secondary is fine.

I have used cornies for primary for years. As jughead stated, I simply cut some off the dip tube to allow for the yeast. I then would rack it straight into another corny for secondary. It is a great system as it is completely closed, no siphon is needed and you can keep your beer under CO2 at all times.
