Hello, I am new to this forum and have been enjoying "real beers" for about three years now and am probably going to try to start to brew my own this spring.

I just wanted to know the best beer you have ever enjoyed. Not the best quality beer you have enjoyed , but the best beer you have ever had.

Mine was when our house was finally finished. I had just bid my first regular run as a Train Engineer, previously I was on call on the railroad for three years.

The sun was setting, it was a cool evening in Indiana, my house was finished, as was my deck. I pulled out a lawn chair and poured myself a Seira Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine and celebrated finally having a regular shift on the railroad and also my house being finished.

I will remember that beer as long as I live.

So, what was your favorite beer (or shall I say beer moment)?

First of all Prankasaur, welcome to the boards! I'm sure you'll find everyone here very helpful in whatever you may need. Everyone here is very cool.

My favorite beer moment:

My girlfriend (now wife) and I were in a little town northwest of Montreal on a ski vacation. One evening, after an amazing dinner, we retired to the bar. I bought a Cuban Cigar, and a Sleeman's Cream Ale and we sat by the fire. We sat there for the next two or three hours, watching the snow fall outside and just talked about everything under the sun. The beer was good, not the best I've had, but the night more than made up for it. Still one of the best nights I've ever had.

Cheers!

Steve

Probably a few good ones out there, but the one I remember the most was when we took our son to Winterpark CO to teach him how to ski. We got him signed up for lessons and then my wife and I went to grab something before we hit the slopes. I ended up HC Berger's Chocolate Stout (no longer brewing I hear), one turned into another and I never made the slopes that day. It just seemed like the perfect beer, snow capped mountain, cramped little bar area, relaxed atmoshere. It all just went together very nicely.

Welcome Prankasaur. I love trains like I love beer. I am a model railroader and my great grandfather, whom I knew, was an engineer for the NYC back in the glory days of steam.

I ahve a few brew moments, One ot the top was at the local microbrew here in Syr. Our brew club held a meeting there and got a tour and tasting. It was the first winter that they made Wizard's winter Ale. He had a 1/4 keg cask conditioned and regular carb out in his tasting room. As I approached the cask, most people where walking away heading for the tasting room. They did not like the cask version. One other club member and I loved it. We kept telling people as they came up to go to the tasting room as the cask wasn't that good. He and I had a grand time drinkinf that cask beer with the owner who finally found time to stop and drink with us.

Welcome from another hoosier (south bend). Such nice stories you guys have. I think I'm still waiting on my beer moment. I guess it's like true love. You'll know it when it happens.

I have many great beer moments, but one stands out pretty vividly. Some friends and I were staying on a house boat moored next to the Chandeluer Islands south of New Orleans. We all had 15' flat bottomed john boats and were red and spec fishing. One afternoon I was fishing from the bow, my buddy was in the stern and a really good looking girl I knew was laying out reading a book between us. The temps were perfect, the water warm, not a cloud in the sky, a nice salt-breeze in the air, even the smell of the salt, sunscreen, and her perfume all blended together perfectly. My buddy threw me a beer and as I drank it, I realized that this is what it is all about. Life was good! Life IS good!!
