View Full Version : swing-top bottles
I have a friend who recently gave me close to 500 swing top bottles, both green grolsch and amber bottles. Anyone interested?

You bet! Only the amber ones, though... is everything about them in good shape? Rubber stoppers, mouths of the bottles, that sort of thing...

One dollar , and I have both green Grolsch and amber Oberdorfer bottles. I can ship them at cost (yours) in batches of 12. I have not tried to ship more in a box, but probably could. They are clean and only used once.

It seems like the swing top bottles would be easier for homebrewing...any downsides to them?

Yeah, you have to drink 16 oz instead of 12, downside, did you say downside? They really speed up the process if you are bottleing. I use them over and over and the grommets only need to be replaced occasionally. Any homebrew supply should have them. I have using them for 10 years.

Thanks for the info Gary. I'm not homebrewing yet, but will keep these in mind when I start.

Do us a favor, and periodically let us know what you have left, ok?
:) My friend lives in a small German town that attracts a lot of tourists. He has connections with the restaurants and gets lots of bottles. I use the money to brew beer, and buy him and his mom (90) groceries when we go to visit. Keep the address, as I have bottles and can get more. I would be willing to come off the price some for those who buy 2-3 dozen of more. I really am not in it for the money.

I too have used flip tops for years; v. little maintenance and much faster in bottling. Originally posted by Beaver

I remember the first time I ever saw these. Jersey (sorry lads, Channel islands). Then they came to Ireland. Now the B's at Guinness/bass use standard caps.
What a loss!

Dude, this is a two year old thread. The original poster has only 4 posts on the board, and they're all in this thread. Don't expect an answer.
