It might be good to keep a thread going of any interesting brews that show up on Ebay.
I was able to purchase a couple of the Stone Sawyer beers from a guy who I met through Ebay.
Here is an interesting auction going right now:

Question is, and I dont know much about these vintage ales, would you ever want to drink this stuff if you bought it? Or is this a financial investment?

I have bought from the last guy before. I may drink some of the brews but probably will sell them in the future. Most were commerative beers celebrating Queen's Silver Jubilee and stuff like that. He had some of the first bottles of Thomas Hardy. Most of what is in my cellar I intend to drink but some bottles are for sale. The Stone Sawyers I will drink. I wish I could get my hands on a few bottles of 02/02/02. I'm not paying the outrageous price on that ebay auction but I would pay well for a couple bottles.

Hmm, maybe I'll save the 2 '92 Hardy's I have as Mortgage Bottles to pay off the mortgage!

I have several TH bottles from the 80s and I think maybe even a 79. I also have a few other very limited brews that I may sell rather than drink. When I retire Which I hope will be in about 5 years. (I am 46) I hope to sell stuff on ebay as a hobby and to supplement my income. I have a basement, attic, garage and storage unit full of accumulated antiques and collectables. Most of it is breweriana or beer related. I have a buddy who is retired and he operates a succesful Ebay business that garners about $40,000.00 a year for him as a supplement to his retirement. I probably won't be in his league because I don't want to work that hard. And it is work. I know because I have sold maybe 200 items on ebay over the years and you have to be really organized. I'd do it more as a hobby. Old bottles of beer can bring lots of money in the right market. In fact, I am going to a week long breweriana show next week. All that being said, I hope to drink the majority of what I have cellared.

My wife is an ebay freak! When she was pregnant we found an outlet store that was carrying boutique maternity clothes at way discounted prices (usually do to bad dye jobs, small tears etc...) but you could find some that had nothing wrong with them. We would buy a ton of it for about 100-200 and then resell it on ebay. After I broke my back and was down for 6 months her ebay! sales were what paid the bills. oF course, then the store closed down and we had no more stuff. I sold about 50 tap handles that I had collected over the years. Some of them were very collectible and went for upwards of $500. If you have a niche market to sell to, you will make some money.

Well it will be worse for you all then because I will have even more time to spread my blather on this board. I actually hope to travel too. But I'll bring my laptop! Hah!
Truth is I have been very lucky. Things have worked out well for me all purely by accident and luck.

hey , four of us could kick in $250 and split the cases , thats three 03's and three 02's a peice. then turn around and sell the 02's and 03's back on e-bay for $200 keeping one of each for our selves, that would bring us to $25 a bottle out of our pockets! and a lot of work........sort of...uh just rambling, never mind
