this stray kitten showed up at our door a couple of weeks ago, and being the suckers, er, animal lovers that we are, it looks like we have a new member of the family. So of course, it comes around to naming him, I'm pushing for Guinness... Here's my photographic evidence....

I _just_ missed getting him with his head in my beer, but this worked out OK anyways...

we couldn't figure out why the pads of his paws were in such bad shape, according to the vet, stray cats tend to burn their paws when they climb on top of car engines for warmth... ow...

anyone else have a beer themed pet name?

Used to know a dog named Kessler, after the whiskey, but that's it... I think Guinness is a WONDERFUL name! (Can you get him to actually drink some instead of just being curious?)

I hope you took Guinness and those poor paws to a vet to get treated... :(

Kessler was also an old brewery in Montana. In the 1980s the Kessler name was revived by another Montana micro but I think it must have fizzled too. Thier main beer was Loreli.

Yeah, danno, about a year and a half ago we were entertaining some friends outside with a cook-out/beer fest when this tiny gray kitten wandered up into our midst. (She later turned out to be only about five weeks old.) She immediately became friends with everyone there. As the night wore on, I kept swearing I heard a rustling over in the vines on my fence, so I got a flashlight and started checking them out. There I found another gray kitten (this one a boy) who was apparently hiding while waiting for his sister to return with some sort of sustenance. Anyway, to make a long story a little shorter, we took them in, fed and watered them, and my wife promptly named the girl Belhaven and the boy McEwan, after her favorite Scotch Ales. Today, they run the house!

Incidentally, Belhaven is a bit of a beer connoisseur herself. I have caught her on several occaissions sticking her snout into my glass and drinking. She seems to prefer pale ales overall. Go figure!
