I am currently conducting research on exporting U.S. beer to Ireland. Does anyone know what major U.S. brands are sold in Ireland? How about U.S. Microbrews in Ireland? Are there any additional web sites where I would be able to obtain this information. I am curious about establishing a partnership or possible foreign direct investment to establish a small town microbrew from the U.S. in Ireland...Any information that anyone could provide would be appreciated.

Hello,

It's been a long time ( too long) since I've been to Ireland, but, my Sister in law is from Dublin. We were having a discussion about beer not too long ago. Sadly, I was informed that Bud was a big seller there now. That's all I've heard, hope this helps. Good luck

I don't know if this will be of any use, but we own a Microbrewery called Dragonmead in Michigan. Contact us at www.dragonmead.com. We might be interested.

I'm from Northern Ireland and though it's a different country from the Rep. of Ireland I suspect that beer-wise things are pretty well the same on both sides of the border.

In Northern Ireland both Budweiser and Miller Genuine Draft are widely available in both bottles and draught - though they are no doubt actually brewed in the UK. Both are quite popular. As for bottles only, Rolling Rock is in most beer stores and I can recall getting Michelob and Red Dog to try (I hated both) though they are not as common. A few years ago Bud Light was heavily promoted with some very good TV commercials but the beer itself didn't catch on - unless things have changed radically in the last two years I've been away. Drinking light beer is not socially acceptable in N Ireland as it is seen as a wussy drink.

I can't recall any American microbrews in Ireland but as I didn't know much about such beers then, it is possible that I didn't notice that the odd one is available. But in any shop I went to the vast majority of beers were from the European continent.
