i read that water at the bottom of a lake, river, etc, can never be colder than 34*F. water is most dense and this temp, so if it cools to 33 it starts to rise up where it eventually floats and freezes at the surface.

Sallad, that would all depend on how deep the lake/river is. I've seen ponds freeze right to the bottom in the dead of New England winter (I'm sure this can happen in Russia.) If I remember my chemistry correctly, it is 40F (4C) where water is the densest. You are right though, if the lake is deep enough, the temperature will be ~40F, depending on currents, etc.

i was thinking tank beer, since they used a t-72 to get it out (how funny is that?!), but there already is one of those. (http://www.gpi.org/products_images/2002/Jan02/tank.jpg)
