Anyone else love to drink Paulaner Oktoberfest all year round like I do!! Just depresses me that only a few bars and carry it, and it's only during the fall...Why can't we be allowed to celebrate year round!!!

Happy Oktoberfest ALL!!!!

For the same reason that I put my little, Summer roadster into hibernation every Fall - it makes it all the sweeter to take it out again in the Spring!

While I agree, Oktoberfest is a fine style, my favorite also - in fact, I find it a nice tradition to have it available in the Fall, enjoy it then, and then get excited about it coming back the next year - keeps it fresh for me. Same goes for the Bocks, Summer and Holiday seasonals.

Of course, I'm also the one who kept about 6 cases of Spaten Okto in my garage a few years ago to draw from year 'round...

PS - welcome Pastout, and look for the looong thread on last year's Oktoberfest offerings under this same section. http://www.realbeer.com/discussions/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1231

Spaten Okt is alos a favorite of mine, and I see what you are saying. I just can't pull my self away from it. I am new to this site, look forward to checking it out, and thanks for the link on last year's posts!!! Take it easy from Omaha NE. USA.

I discovered the radio station, Star 104.5, on the trip back from the far west side of your long and lonely state - Omaha looked to be a cool town. Are you a student at the Uni? And...doesn't one of the Nebraska towns have a big Oktoberfest every year, Lincoln maybe? I missed it by a week on my trip last year.

I would never recommend driving through Nebraska. Worst drive ever. Nope I am a Telecom Analyst....Yes...I don't recommend doing that either, so I also Bartend on the side...Although I want to beat my head on the bar alnight, serving Mich Ultra over and over.

I have a feeling I will spending too much time reading here.....You have a real nice site here.

Of course, heading back home to Chicago, after Nebraska comes Iowa! Zzzzzz. ;)

Dive right into the good-beer fun!

What a fascinating drive! :p

We've done the Colorado to Michigan drive way too much!

Welcome Pastout! Any chance on converting any of those Mich Ultra drinkers?

I wish I could...And they don't even know how to ask for it. They say "Can I have an Ultra Lite?" I tell them we don't carry Ultra Lite, never heard of it. They get mad, then I tell them the actual name. I also add...You know it's not real beer right? I don't normally get much of a tip off these people :)

It may be a gross generalization, but it's one I've seen born out time and time again, cheap beer drinkers (alcopop imbibers, shooter goons, lite beer aficianados, etc) tend to be cheapskates. Sure I've seen folks order a Chimay and give you nowt for your effort. I've seen Bud Bottle happy hour man leave hefty recognition of service, but in general the rule holds true:

Crap drinker = crap tips.

Welcome, pastout!

I had a friend who lived in Omaha a while back that I had visited once. I enjoyed Upstream Brewing, and found Jaipur interesting -- my first (and still only) Indian food brewpub!
They had a decent IPA, IIRC.

I, too, am a fan of the FestBiers, and found Spaten to be excellent this past year. Take steveh's advice and check out that thread -- lots of stuff about all kinds of Oktoberfests!

That's great , I actually work at the grill/night club right across the street from the Jaipur..The bar is Eli's.

Upstream is one of my favorite, and about the only brewhouse in Omaha anymore. Great time there, glad to hear you enjoyed it.

An Indian brewpub? Two of my favorite things......Beer.......Indian food. Sounds great!

well it sounds as if pastout is saying that Jaipur doesn't brew anymore:confused:
That'd be a shame.

It was interesting. The food was very good and the beers were decent...

Hey Past, as I was reaching into the deep recesses of my fridge last night, and discovered a Gordon Biersch Marzen hiding behind an old bottle of Sam Adam's Summer Beer, I thought about your longing for year 'round Oktoberfest.

The G.B. Marzen is a nice Okto-style beer and brewed year 'round - if you take a long weekend and head toward Denver, you can sample it fresh at their brew-pub there!

I might just do that, I haven't seen any of it here locally. I do go to Colorado about once a year. I have to pretend I know how to ski. :)

Thanks for the input!
