I want to try and split my extract brewing into to days. Just wanted to ask if anyone has mixed up there Malts with the water and let it sit over night covered, to boil the next day? It seems like it would not be a problem but just want to see if anyone has done it.

Thanks
John

As in leave your steeping grains to sit overnite? Or leaving your LME mixed with your brewing water overnite?

leaving the LME mixed with your brewing water overnite - no grains

Should be okay, but how long does it take to mix LME and some water?

LOL I know but factor in a new born baby at home and the stiffness of that LME, if it takes more then 30 minutes then that starts to be to long. fill pot with 3 gallons, heat water to hot. Sqeeze out the LME (which is not an easy or clean task) from plastic bag. Then stir until mixed. Sounds like it won't take more then 30min but the more I can break up the brew process the more beer I can brew, and that is my altimate goal :)

Put the bag in the water as it's heating up and it will pour out easier. Then put more water in the bag once it's empty and it'll get the rest out as well.

And congrats on the baby!

JS,
If you take a look through the older forums and search this idea. You'll find an odler post about some body who did this for thier all grain brewing. I don't remember the detials of how he did it, but it *did* work. Since you mentioned you've done all grain, and I know its got a lot more steps / complications, then for extract I can't imagine this going poorly. In fact, if you leave the malt steeped over night then plan on bringing it to a boil anything that would have gotten into the brew would be boiled out -no harm no foul in my opinion.

im going to search through the posts. If you can tell me what catagory you searched and the search word you used that would make it easier to locate what you found. Your thinking along the same lines as I was thinking and hoping but I still like to get the comments from everyone to get a good idea of experiences.

Thanks for the post
