What a travesty. While I was watching the Eagles embarrass themselves a promo came on for tonights local news. The main "news" tonight appears to be the low carb movement. Since I have myself lost 30 pounds (and kept it off for a long time) through a low carb diet I was curious. However, late in the promo they panned to Michelob Ultra and said something along the lines of "some brewers are even offering low carb beers without sacrificing flavor."

To make it worse, Chimay Triple was right next to the ultra on the shelf! What are they trying to say?

Okayokay... so i've had a few. I tend to do that when football is on. But trying to compare Chimay with Michelob? Someone shoudl be shot.

Id rather be fat and drinking Chimay Triple then be skinny with Michelob Ultra. Peace, HN-

Once again it must be said, life's too short to drink bad beer.

Chimay and Mich Ultra? There's no comparison to be made, other than by contrast - contrast in flavor and enjoyability, that is.

I personally don't like Chimay. I would not choose either of them.

One that lets meddling media types in to film lame-ass feature reports on even more lame fads. :P

BTW - Brownbeard, none of the Chimays? More for me I guess!

So how do the Chimays compare? All I've had is the Blue so far, and it was very yummy! How's that for a review? :)

I haven't done a side-by-side comparison of the three in years (too old for that s***t), but the Chimay site has great descriptions:

Hmmm... Chimay is fermented at 64-90*F. That's kinda neat to know. Now tell me again about off flavors?

:)

Hmm, indeed. Gotta wonder if that isn't a typo - near 90 seems pretty extreme for a controlled fermenter, as they picture.

To consider AB-Michelob-anything in the same breath as Beer is too much.

I've had all four, yes four, of the Chimay labels. I've also had Chimay Grand Reserve aged to 10 years and still layered with holy monk dust. Cinq Cents has everything on any AB-concocted beverage except for low carb's.

fidcastro has it right though. This sort of thing is not done by accident. Is AB "fearing" the onslaught of the Belgian invasion? Or do they feel that they can ride their "commercial" success into the future?

Oh but for the ignorance of the masses that thrive on dollar-driven commercials pushing an inferior product...oh,oh,,,they've got another one on!

After pouring one too many coors lts and mich ultras for people last night, I have to say that i'd pay $1000 for a Chimay before i ever drank a glass of fizzy urine for free. 'Michelob Ultra: Lose the carbs, AND the taste (not that there was much of one to begin with).'

OK, my rant is done...
