Missed your invite to the royal wedding this weekend? Don’t worry, so did we. However, the real question is: would you even want to go? Prince William and Kate Middleton have reportedly banned the consumption of beer at their wedding reception.

According to The Mirror, champagne and wine will be served at the wedding reception only. Beer was deemed to be unsuitable for such a prestigious occasion. The reception will be held at Buckingham Palace after the couple gets wed at Westminster Abbey.

A source said: "There won't be any beer. Let's face it, it isn't really an appropriate drink to be serving in the Queen's presence at such an occasion. It was always their intention to give their guests a sophisticated experience and they have chosen the food and drink with this in mind."

We all know that beer drinking is huge in the pub culture. Radaronline.com reported that pubs are expecting that 100 million pints of beer will be served during the wedding. Have the royals disconnected with their subjects? After frequenting several English pubs over the past few months, we are certain that drinking beer is very much directly associated with being British (maybe an exaggeration).

Neither Prince William nor Kate Middleton will be consuming alcohol during the event; however, many expect Prince Harry (Prince William’s younger brother) to pick up the slack, since he has been known to throw back several pints.

What do you think? Did the royal family make a mistake by not serving beer?

It's probably "too cheap and trashy" for their damn taste. Bitches. Then again, Absinthe and LSD are in season, so they're probably going with that. Sponge cake and beastiality are trending also.

Anyway, I just tore up my invitation. Screw them!

Eh. Its their wedding. Let them serve what they want even if it is lots of imported french wine and bubbly. Not sure they need hate because of it. Although they may want to have their official spokesperson or whoever said that take some PR lessons from CAMRA next time. They seem to think all beer is just the swill hooligans drink to get routy. Time to take some history lessons royals and find out just how ingrained beer is in English culture. Elizabeth the FIRST drank ale with every breakfast after all.

That being said, I dont plan to have any bud light at my wedding reception even if it is the "beer of the masses". But to keep people (read: my wifes relatives) from calling us effete craft beer elitists (or worse) I do plan on having Miller High Life in the mix. Take a lesson from that queenie...

Sad. The royal couple doesn't really stand a chance here, they probably have as much a part in the planning of this event as the plastic figurines on top of most wedding cakes. They're almost an afterthought, really. So much of this theater is pre-ordained. I doubt if the Price said "I want a bottle of my DAD'S organic real CAMRA-approved English ale" he'd have a chance of getting it. That ought to be what they serve. Prince Charles ought to be able to clout his own beer at his son's wedding. How many other brewers would not be serving their brew at their kids wedding. Maybe they'll just get to on a good English bender with some good English beer is over after its over.

Too many young people get sucked in by the wedding-industrial complex that conditions young girls into assembling some sort of dream wedding idea that'll nearly bankrupt the poor sucker who'll be asked to finance it or forces them to become some sort dream-shattering ogre. I am very happy that my wife has raised our two daughters to be happier to be poking a fat stick in the eye of popular convention than following it.

It takes a brewery to put it all in perspective:

I'd say that about 99% of the hate stems from the media shoving every detail of the wedding in our faces 24/7 for the last couple months. I mean, do we really need to know what kind of forks they were using? I'm just surprised the news didn't make any mention of what brand of toilet paper was being used in the bathrooms, least not that I heard.

That post should be bronzed. You nailed it right on the head there. That's part of why I'll never marry, not to mention the fact that I have yet to find someone who can stand being around me for more than 10 minutes- LOL!!

Unfortunately it will probably be sooner than that, thanks to Lady Gag Me.
