Alaska Barleywine Festival

Barleywine festival starts tonight..

The wife and I are off to help with judging the Barleywines from across the nation...
24 barleywines and 28 judges, and all the rest of the other styles of beers the breweries have to offer.
Dogfish Head is supposed to be here this year with their IPA's
Hope they brought their barleywine...
supposed to have 170 breweries represented this year with
plus or minus 375 beers.....

I must go now and brave the -15 weather (a lot warmer than
New England about now)

First place: Glacier BrewHouse's "Big Woody Barley Wine", an oak-aged barley wine that's absolutely delicious
Second place: Alaskan Brewing's "Alaskan Big Nugget Barley Wine"
Third place: Midnight Sun's "Arctic Devil Barley Wine"
Honorable mention: Sleeping Lady's "Old Gander Barley Wine"


These four breweries answer the question, "How good are Alaskan breweries?"
