Well, I opened that can of Velvet. My wife tasted it and said it was an insult to yeast and water. It is not anything special though it had a little more malt character than most cheap beers. I am having trouble coming up with a comment on the nose of this beer. There is a little hop taste but nothing like I would expect from a beer from the Czech Rep. I do find it drinkable for tonight and probably would not turn it down if offered to me at a social gathering.

I drank Velvet on tap in the czech republic.
It was as it is named, like velvet. A light beer, with a great mouthfeel, and no aftertaste at all, hardly any taste either.
I sat in the bar for about 2 hours and in the czech republic the waitress will keep bringing beer( when your current is empty) whether you ask for it or not! Well me and my girlfriend had about 7 each, which was very easy and ate some snacks and our bill was about $20 american. So it was decently priced too.

The bar was a very young crowd, and loud music, I think it must be the young person drink of choice because that is what most were drinking, so I would agree that it is a, "get it in ya" kind of beer.
