PORTLAND, Ore. (September 20, 2010) – Nine Oregon breweries claimed a total of 19 medals at the 2010 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) held September 16 - 18 in Denver, CO. Oregon Breweries brought home three gold medals, five silver medals and 11 bronzes, placing the state third overall for the total number of medals won.
The GABF is the world’s largest beer competition and recognizes the most outstanding beers produced in the United States today. The top three medalists in each of the competition’s 79 beer-style categories were announced September 18th at the 29th Great American Beer Festival Awards Ceremony, held at the Colorado Convention Center. The 2010 Great American Beer Festival Competition winners were selected by an international panel of 151 brewing experts from an impressive field of 3,523 entries received from 516 U.S. breweries.
