I found out today that the first pub to feature just microbrews in Syracuse is going to close. After being in business for 18 years, Clark's Ale House has announced it will cease pouring pints and serving a great roast beef sandwich this Saturday Sept. 25, 2010. Ray Clark, the owner, was one of the first to open in a section of town that was being revived called Armory Square. His commitment and success prompted others to open and help jump start life in to this business area.
Clark's had made the list of being of of the 150 perfect places to have a beer.
RIP Clark's Ale House

Thats a shame. Had they lost business or something?

Clark's space is located within the perimeter walls of the historic theater building of Syracuse. The theater needs to expand it's stage and backstage areas in order to be able to attract higher quality shows. Clark's lease was up next year and was not going to be renewed. The city and owner are anxious to start the remodel, so they offered him a nice buy out on the lease.
Other contributing factors have made him decide not to move and reopen any time in the near future. His business was and still is good, so at least he goes out on a high note.

This is really a bummer. Clark's was awesome. My favorite beer bar in 'Cuse.
