When I first started homebrewing in the early 90s I remember seeing ads in Zymurgy and other places for this....well I guess it was basically a mini-brewery made by Stoeltings (of WI I think), who are some stripe of food service manufacturer. They made a stainlesss steel 5,10, or 12 gallon kettle (electric or gas), a mini mash/lauter tun, wort chiller, and fermenter. As I remember it was relatively expensive ($1,200-2,000 or thereabouts). I was curious if anyone had ever seen or used this. I haven't seen one advertised for years and a web search leads me to believe they have discontinued making these items. I certainly never encountered one, but it looked great and seemed like it would fit very well indoors, espcially in the city where room is tight. Well on paper anyways.

Is there anyone making a simiar set up nowadays? I've seen some of the 3 tier gravity system made from used 1/2 kegs, but nothing exactly like the above referenced Stoeltings thing.

...homebrewing has evolved a lot from the 90s, and $1,200-2,000 worth of equipment today would get a pretty nice setup. It could include all of the above, as well as a outdoor gas cooker, conical fermenter, etc. from a major supplier like MoreBeer.com. You could even go with a very nice all-grain sculpture.

I've never seen the Stoeltings setup, but if they were charging that much, my guess is that they discontinued making them.

Oh, I'm sure they're not for sale anymore. The thing that I liked about, just from eyeballing the ads of course, is that it seemed like it would work much better indoors than the systems that use the half kegs. It really did look like a proper mini brewery. Funny thing, or maybe not given the price, was I've never run into anyone who used that set up. They must have sold some of 'em, even if it was to crazy people with more money than sense.
