i tasted my ciders for the first time last night. I started them in late september.

Positive results. Ciders were tasty; dry and good. I suspect they will be even better when carbonated and cooled.

the plain cider is better than the raspberry cider, imo... BUT the raspberry smells better and is pretty to look at. Raspberries hide much of the apple nose and flavor.

fyi,

i used 15 gallons (three different batches) of freshed pressed cider, no perservatives, no pasturization.
cambden tablets.
8 pints of raspberries (just in 1 batch).
wine yeast. i forget the specific strain.

cheers and beers (or cider as the case may be).

Nice! Cider is not one of my favorite drinks. I have tasted some that I really enjoy. Glad to hear of your success.

Over the summer we spent some time on the Lake Michigan shoreline. In the town of Ludington, there is a microbrewery called Smithport Brewing. One thing they had on tap was a pear cider. My wife & I really enjoyed it.
I would like to know if anybody had a recipe for pear cidre.
Thanx.
