here's the scenario: WWIII has started. France will soon be dropping brie bombs on all AB breweries. beer drinkers all over the country head for their unstocked bomb shelters.
you get to take any four 6-packs with you (only four!). And, no, you cannot mix the individual 6-packs.
do you take a barley wine that might last a few years? do you take four different styles for variety? do you take your favorite single beer because you like it so much? do you take something you have never tried before because you may never get to try it again?
what might your last beer be?

I would have to take my 4 favorite bottled beers:

Estes Park Renegade
Rogue Shakespeare Stout
Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Ale
Rodenbach Grand Cru

They are all different styles for variety. Others that would be close include:

Schneider Aventinus
Avery Ellie's Brown Ale
Duvel

first, Brie is non-toxic, biodegradeable and has a nice nose. Sooo, unless it lands on your head there is nothing to fear.
Nothing like Brie, fresh fruit, crusty bread and BARLEY WINE.
It's not a war when one side is serving food and the other is eating it!!

Trout Slayer
Guinness
Black Butte
Moose Drool

..I would also bring a small pellet gun or sling-shot.

When I drink my way through these 4 six-packs, I'll fire it in the general direction of any French troops or planes. An act of aggression which will almost assuredly trigger their imediate and unconditional surrender.

Stone Double Bastard
Samiclaus
Anchor Old Foghorn
North Coast Old Rasputin

No, you can't come in my bomb shelter!

Chimay Blue
Rogue I2PA
Old Rasputin
Pilsner Urquell
i think that'd cover the styles pretty well. by the way, what do we do after the first week and all the beer's gone?

The first week?...only four six-packs?, never make it a week.
French, huh? I'd probably toss an empty bottle at them, should buy me some time to re-stock.
Back to the topic, however:
Guiness - not just a beer, but a meal in a bottle.
Lakefront Eastside Dark
New Glarus Hop Hearty Pale Ale
A yet to be determined barley wine, hard to find here; Bigfoot the only one I find readily available.

Bomb shelter beers........ hmm...

I would have to take four six packs of different stuff.

Sweetwater Exodus Porter
Sweetwater ESB
Harp Lager
maybe even an Iron City (though I don't particularly like it) and dream of the day I can watch The Steelers pound The raisins once again. Btw there is nothing better with my beer than a little football and metal music. ^__^

For openers, Boulevard's Bully Porter and Dry Stout. I'm still researching the other two I'll have. Can we trade with the other bomb shelters, since we're not allowed to mix sixes?

Oh yeah, I'll need some pastrami, roast beef, corned beef, turkey, and ham along with some pumpernickel and rye bread to make a sandwiches with all that brie.

and a smoked porter in case i got hungry, although i think this would be the time to start brewing my own??? but i don't think the french have the balls to bomb us, if they did however and wanted to start with a/b i would gladly give them the location of the brewery in van nuys, also the miller in irwindale isn't too much further, if they wouldn't mind? yheah , i think that'd be nice!

my 4 sixers would be:

Sierra Neveda Pale Ale - very easy drinking to calm the nerves
Yuengling Black and Tan - for the vitamins
Victory Hop Devil - my morning bracer
A sixer of Bud - to keep everyone away from my beer.

Hmmmmm. Tough to choose. I guess I would go with this line up:

Sam Smith's Taddy Porter
Spaaten Pils or Pilsner Urquell
Arrogant Bastard
Old Rasputin

Don't forget to bring the opener, also. Unlike the "macro swill", real beer doesn't have a twist top.

only four, huh?

Victory HopDevil
Middle Ages Druid Fluid Barleywine
DogfishHead World Wide Stout
Flying Fish Farmhouse Summer or Grand Cru Winter (depending
on which season the apocalypse happens!)

That should last me a couple of days... :p

Not true! Capital's bottles are twisters, as are Summit's. Technology has come a long, convenient way! ;)

If I had to go down in one of those godforsaken things..... I'd have to take, and in no particular order:

1) Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA
2) Stone Arrogant Bastard Ale
3) Rogue Shakespeare Stout
4) Alaskan Smoked Porter

But I'd much rather stay on the outside......sample them all!!

My bad. I did not realize there were some out there in twisters. This is why I come here. To learn.

Cool, I have a can opener and a bottle opener on my keyring just in case. All I ask for is an extra bottle for the trouble of opening yours.:D
The local places sometimes advertise on keyring bottle openers

Trust me, I would find away to open the bottle, even if it meant breaking off the top of the bottle and filtering the glass through my shirt!:D

I would take

Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout
Geary's Hampshire Ale
Middle Ages Druid Fluid (barely wine)
Middle Ages Impaled Ale (IPA)

I think the French would lose before a week is up.

OK... been watching this thread for awhile, thinking, thinking... so here goes...

Sierra Nevada Bigfoot
Theakston Old Peculier
Odell's 90 Schilling
Red Hook ESB

Odd choices, I'm sure, but it's simply what I think I'd miss the most.

1) Whatever I recently homebrewed
2) Fuller's 1845
3) Bass Ale
4) Sierra Nevade Pale Ale

Do you think while their at it, the french could head north and drop some fromage on Labatts and Molsons as well:D

Assuming I'd be in Canada, where access to the fine brews south of the border is non-existent:

HopHead IPA - Tree Brewing Co., Kelowna, BC
Mitchell's ESB - Spinnakers Brewpub, Victoria, BC
Thor's Barley Wine - Sailor Hagar's Brewpub, N. Vancouver, BC
Coal Porter - Steamworks Brewing Co., Vancouver, BC

Assuming I'd be on one of my many trips to WA, ORE, CA:

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Rogue Smoked Porter
Widmer Hefe Weisse
Arrogant Bastard

Hey Dark, if dark beer rules, how come you only have one dark beer on your list?

I'm bringing grain, water, hops, and yeast...

for premade beer, I guess Delirium Nocturnum, Aventinus, New Glarus Hop Hearty, and Chimay Blue. (for more yeast...)

Four sixers only...what a cruel scenario. Here goes:

1). Alaskan Smoked Porter
2). Bellhaven Scottish Ale
3). Mackesons XXX
4). Rogue Half-A-Weizen

I was shopping tonight, I've changed my list.

Since it could be awhile, I decided I want to have at least one six pack of Corsendonk Ale....

The Jeroboam size bottles, of course...
