What are some of your selfish resolutions for the new year? How many will you actually keep? I would like to maybe brew a batch of beer. (Would be my first in a decade.) Take up dart playing again. Lose weight of course. Post over 1000 posts here. LOL! , Travel more abroad and more stateside in my RV. Work less. At 46 I am inching towards semi retirement. And drink more REAL ALE. Those are all my selfish resolutions. (I do have mightier and loftier resolutions regarding my family and my employees as well as others that are less fortunate than me. These resolutions I will keep.) Anyway, what are some of the resolutions that you might be making?

I tend not to make New Years resolutions. I will, however, make some changes in certain areas of my life.

I will:
Start brewing all grain
Drink better beer
Drink more beer
Convert more people to drink "real beer"
And...

...Cook with beer more often.

I think I can keep to these changes.

Much like the rest of you, I resolve to drink more beer and try to talk my wife into going back to London for some delicious real ales. I also resolve to try and post on this board a lot more.

Cheers!

Get a freezer for lagering

And lose another 40 lbs on top of the 50 I have lost so far.

I'm going to resolve to keep last year's resolution and not make any resolutions!

I'd also like to try to get back to brewing and travel more.

...and keep within a "reasonable" weight...(no pressure!).

Happy Holidays, all!

(and congrats to chazwicke and all the others who've recently
passed milestone posts!)

my resolutions:

all grain brewing
build my bar

my wife gave me my xmas gift early, a pool table showed up in my basement. after I get the bar built, and beer on tap downstairs instead of in the garage, I'll never have to leave the basement... other than to brew, that is...

Well ... couldn't make many of the mountain biking resolutions I made last year so I won't make any beer resolutions. However I will try my darnest to make the following come true:

Brew a partial mash recipe
Create my own recipe
Get my kegging system in use
enter a homebrew competition

May all your winter warmers be malty and nice!

Both lofty goals. I wish you success on both counts.

I resolve to:

- start running regularly (some of my pants are getting tighter in the waist )

- get engaged to my GF of almost 3 years

- brew more beer

- Set up a more-or-less regular brewing schedule

- culture some Chimay yeast

- save up for a grain mill, aeration setup, and a kegging setup

- get involved in my local homebrew club

- introduce more people to the joys of homebrew, both drinking and producing it

- help the Beer Baron evade the G-Men again ;)

Best of luck to all of you and your resolutions in the new year.

I resolve to:

1. Taste more (and more often) new beers.
2. Go back to Ireland to get me some more Smithwick's!!!
3. Drink more beer.

I think I can keep at least the last one... :D

Best of luck to all in the new year!

I don't fool with resolutions. To me that is superstition. If I have bad habits (which I have many) that need to be addressed, what is the difference between addressing them on New Years day as opposed to say, June11th ?

2) Brew larger batches of beer

What size batches are you doing now?

Don't beleive in 'em. If i would, they would be:
1. Start smoking.
2. Gain weight.
3. Develop a drug habit.
4. Stop being nice to people.
5. Develop a hobby such as fire-eating.

Dive on it, man! I've been hearing great things about SMOKEAWAY. Think she'd try it? Does she even want to quit? Some do, some don't...

Fire-eating as a hobby? I usually recommend sorcery. :D

I want to attend at least 10 beer festivals this year. The last few years I've been lucky to hit one or two per because of my job, but I'm going to slow down and taste the beer this year!

Some people aren't ready for it whether they "want to" or not. Have you seen the commercial with the little animated guy about "stopping slowly ?" Quitting smoking is not "dropping a bad habit." It is a very difficult lifestyle change. A successful ex-smoker who smoked for many years has my upmost respect.
